Today we are pleased to offer for sale this wonderful lot of antique Quimper French pottery made by HB, HB-Henriot and HR Quimper Pottery. This hand painted tin-glazed French faience has been hand made in Quimper, Brittany, France for over 300 years.  Three pottery makers were active in this area, producing similar wares, all featuring Breton peasants and flower motifs.
Included in this lot are 8 wonderful and hard-to-find pieces which are all great examples of this type of pottery.
Included in this lot are:
Figure of Saint Anne with a child; unusual form measuring 9.5" h, elaboratly decorated, signed "HR Quimper"; very good condition with slight glaze roughness on her head.
Figural cider barrel flask decorated with the busts of a peasant man & woman on each side; measures 5" w x 3-3/4" dia. at the ends; cork in top and hole on one side (for a spigot?); marked "Henriot Quimper"; excellent condition.
Ashtray with a female figure seated on a rock surface; measures 4-1/4" w x 5-3/8" d x 4-5/8' h; marked "HB Quimper Renaud 12B P.W.; good condition with indication of an old well done repair at her neck.
Figural covered mustard or jam pot, depicting a female figure with a plaid apron; space in back for a spoon; 2 pieces; marked "HB Quimper France 489 (over/line) RI"; good condition with two shallow chips on her hat, right side in photo.
Figural bag pipes wall pocket; features a male peasant with foliage, plaid base & a flat unfinished back;  measures 6" l x 4.5" h x 2-1/8" d; marked "HB Quimper"; very good condition.
1930 figural pitcher of a man lighting his pipe, attributed to decorator/designer Andre Galland for Henriot Quimper; made for the retailer Ovington's of NY; measures 5.5" h x 5" w x 6" d; marked "Henroit Quimper France A.G. 161," with owner's identifying label and original retailer's label.  Very good condition with somewhat uneven glazing (from manufacture).
and the Prize of the lot, a pair of large figural liquor bottles, a man and a woman; woman has the original foil label "Fraise de Plougastel Liqueur Fraise de Bretagne"; measure 12-12.5"; woman has cork on the back of her head, man has opening at the top of his hat; marked "Henriot Quimper"; excellent condition.
These are lovely hand crafted pieces which ooze French Country charm.  A rare opportunity to own pieces from the collection of the woman who literally "wrote the book" on French Quimper pottery.
